Stacey joined our team back in February of this year, as our first woman water heater service technician. Prior to joining our team, Stacey had previously worked for two different plumbing companies over the course of about four years; in her previous roles, she predominantly assisted in residential water heater installations, noting: "I have installed quite a few water heaters before I came here. I am very proud of being a female in this business and industry. I want to be able to show other women that this is possible for them also!"
She currently specializes in residential water heater repair, but is actively training to work gain more commercial water heater repair experience, as well. In fact, if you saw our recent social media check-in with Stacey, you saw that she participated in a training session on Heat Pump Water Heaters this past week! She has also had the added benefit of participating in hands-on training with her Regional Field Staff Supervisor on commercial jobs. As she continues to build her commercial water heater skills, Stacey's longterm goals for herself include: "eventually [learning] everything there is to know about water heaters, [their maintenance] and fixing them." Once uswhpro has more team members in Iowa, she also aspires to become a Field Staff Supervisor so that she can share everything she's learned and provide additional field support for our team members.
Outside of water heater repairs, Stacey enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. She and her wife love spending time with their three children; they enjoy stopping by local Des Moines-based restaurants like Jim's Coney Island and Viva. When Stacey and her family head outdoors, they especially love to swim, fish, and hike together.
In the water heater industry, the A.O. Smith GDHE series is known as the cross between the residential and commercial worlds because these units are built like commercial water heaters, but often found in residential installations; Stacey wanted to commemorate her field training experience with diagnosing a GDHE-75.
Back when Stacey performed her very first solo install as a uswhpro employee, she snapped a quick picture of the progress to show off her beautiful thermal expansion tank installation.
When Stacey first joined our team in February, she spent several weeks in the Chicagoland area training with our Senior Water Heater Technicians. While on a service call, a customer's TRD (Thermal Release Device) overheated, exploding black liquid throughout the burner assembly. Stacey and her trainer, Mike, had to clean out the burner chamber to assess the damage and diagnose the cause. After an hour of cleaning (where the majority of the content ended up on Stacey and her uniform), they discovered that the water heater needed to be replaced.
